Under the direct supervision of the SoCal Club Program Manager, the Outreach and HIV Testing Specialist conducts outreach and engagement to recruit Black and Latino gay/bisexual men ages 16 – 29 for services at SoCal Club and provides eligible individuals with HIV testing services. The outreach strategy will include social media outreach, outreach activities at locations frequented by members of the target population (such as bar, clubs, and other venues), at outreach at public events in the community. HIV testing will occur at the SoCal Club, located at 8601 S Broadway, Los Angeles.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (This list may not include all the duties assigned.)

  • In collaboration with the Outreach Coordinator, implement an outreach strategy to increase awareness of the SoCal Club among black and Latino gay/bisexual men 16 – 29 years of age
  • In collaboration with the Testing Coordinator, implement an HIV testing strategy to increase awareness of the SoCal Club among black and Latino gay/bisexual men 16 – 29 years of age
  • Serve as a public face for the SoCal Club, communicating a confident, sex-positive approach health care for you gay and bisexual men of color.
  • Participate in community events and meetings to recruit clients, identify resources, and build partnerships.
  • Perform outreach duties as needed, including visiting partner organizations, canvassing communities, mailers, social media, etc.
  • Effectively communicate the Men’s Health Foundation (MHF) services and programming and the MHF model to support participant goals around holistic health care.
  • Support MHF Program Managers in implementing recruitment and enrollment strategies and benchmarks to ensure enrollment goals per program.
  • Capture, document and track all client recruitment activities in program/department database.
  • Track outreach outcomes in support of program goals and the strategic growth plan.
  • Participate in program and organizational meetings and activities.
  • Other duties may be assigned, as required.


  • Bright, outgoing personality and an ability to proactively engage community members in person and across a variety of media/social media platforms.
  • High school diploma required, or GED completed. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Two years of experience working with direct client services in a non-profit setting or outreach/engagement in the private sector for a comparable population demographic.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills; strong written and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
  • Bilingual/Spanish preferred.

  • Must be able to pass a background check to include a 7-year criminal, 10-year SSN & employer history reference check.

  •  Must take yearly flu shot or wear flu mask during flu season for patient facing positions and test for tuberculosis as required by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
